Fiberglass mat provides isotropic reinforcement in a non-woven form, making it ideal for applications where uniform properties in all directions and rapid resin build-up are more important than maximum tensile strength.
Fiberglass mat is available in two principal forms. Chopped strand mat (CSM) consists of randomly distributed chopped fibre strands, typically 25–50 mm long, bonded with a powder or emulsion binder. Continuous filament mat (CFM) uses swirled continuous filaments bonded to create a more uniform structure with slightly higher tensile performance.
The binder type determines compatibility with the resin system. Powder binders are preferred with polyester resins due to faster dissolution; emulsion binders are better suited to vinyl ester and epoxy systems. Both types are available across the full weight range.
Mat can be used alone or in combination with woven roving to build hybrid laminates that balance stiffness, impact resistance, and surface quality. It is essential in hand lay-up processes where the open weave of roving would show through a gel coat.
Binder dissolution rate and wet-out uniformity are the key performance indicators for mat. We supply mat with consistent binder distribution and controlled dissolution characteristics matched to our published resin compatibility data.
Rolls are wound on cores and shrink-wrapped to prevent moisture pick-up in storage. We supply in 25 kg roll weight or custom wound to your dispensing system requirements.
All fiberglass mat supplied by NaikGroup9 carries ISO 9001:2015, RoHS, REACH, and TÜV certification. Certificates of conformity are available on request and accompany all commercial shipments.
